Pistons made of RSP material have an advantage over pistons made of conventional aluminium. Because of the specific composition of the alloy and its fine microstructure, RSP material is stronger at increased temperatures, it has a lower specific gravity, thus making it possible to design a lighter piston, which results in a higher efficiency of the motor. The piston can also be designed to have less play when fitted, which enhances th performance of the motor.
